Hospitality

Welcome!

Come in

I am so glad to see you

Make yourself at home

Taste a bit of heaven

Earth traveler

Here is some food

Some conversation

To strengthen your soul

And lighten your heart

Rest for the next stage

Of your journey

Here is a quiet place

To hear the whispers

Of God’s love

Morning Psalm

Arise O God

Come into your resting place –

Me

Holy Spirit come fill –

Me

Some mornings –this morning

Flat

A bicycle tire leaking through the night

Flat

Blank

A sheet of paper

With a few undecipherable pencil scribbles fading away

Blank

Life of God

Love of God

Fill my spaces

Contemplation, meditation

Remembering

You don’t sleep

You never leave

Your presence not dependent

On my feelings

But on your faithfulness

I’m waiting

Your waiting

Heaven touch earth again

As I pray

“Your kingdom come

Your will be done

One earth as it is in heaven”

Ask

They’ve been waiting

Anticipating

This moment

Ready to move

High alert

Waiting

Anticipating

The feeble prayer

Forms in the heart

Barely makes it

To the lips

If at all

A mere

Seed of faith

Commotion

In the cosmos

“She asked!

We are moving in!”

The cogs begin to turn

Heaven moves earth

Surely help is on the way

The Voice from Heaven

The voice

For us

Evidence of God

For all to hear

Some think it thundered

Others say an angel spoke

Am I missing it

Dismissing it

Because it’s not what I want

Am I confused

Disoriented

Distracted

Because I haven’t been listening

Caught up in my life

My ideas

Of who and what

I want

My Messiah

Savior

To be

Perception

Perhaps with these mortal eyes

We do not see the full picture

We see only through a dark mirror

We are blessed and limited by our senses

So many limitless sensations

Beyond our capacity to perceive

Perhaps all around us is heaven

As near as our next breath

Songs for Sohel

Come into the present

Come into this holy place

This is where I meet with you

This is where heaven meets earth

Today is the day

Step into life

Let’s get it started

Take your first breath

Step into life today

Step into freedom

Open your eyes and say

Think I’ll step into life today

This is a gift for you

The day the Lord has made

Soon you’ll be dancing

Cooing and singing

No turning back

Stepping into life today

This afternoon in the 102 degree F heat we were all sprawled out all over the apartment, worn out.  It is amazing how one tiny 8 pounder can wear out so many adults.  Didn’t Hilary Clinton write a book about how it takes a whole village to raise a child? We are getting that idea.

This bright evening star, Sohel, has captured our hearts with his sweetness. We spend hours anticipating his cute little expressions and moves. Those pursed lips and startled hand movements.  There is nothing in the world like a newborn baby.  He started out very sleepy, basically, “Can you just leave me alone it was hard work being born?”  Now that his Mama’s milk is in he is realizing there are some good things about being awake.

We are grateful that the doctor caught right away his distress in the womb and was able to safely deliver him via C-section.  Now his Mama is recovering well and we are happily here for a little while longer to help in these early days of his life.
