It will lead you home

When darkness, evil, fog or fear

Obscure your vision

Wait until you see it again

Don’t move until you do

It will break through

It always does

Move towards it now

And learn to let it

Pass through you

Change and transform you

It takes time

But if you do

It will spread out behind you

Like a trail or a path

Or rays of light

And others will find

Their way home too

Good-bye 2020

Photo by Julia Volk on Pexels.com

May this new year

Show the fruit of what we have learned

from the troubles and sorrows of the passing year

How we need each other

Always have, but somehow

Lost sight of our connection

To each other

To our earth home

To our heaven coming down home

May the fire

The flood

The hurricane force winds

The pandemic

Be used

To strengthen and straighten the bent and broken

Places in our hearts

To repair and renew

The moral compass

of all, including

The powers that rule

The powers that have crushed

The powers arising

Replacing the old

Bringing the new

Until, until

“The kingdom of this world

becomes the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ” *

How long

How long

How we long for that day

Yesterday

Yesterday

I checked in with little Julie

You know, my inner child

There she was

In her little dress

Sticking close to me

Every now and again

She would hold onto

The sides of her dress

And do a little twirl or

A little sashay

Then she would sit down

Again on the step

And keep her eye on me

She likes the quiet

She loves the bird song

She’s a little shy

A little skittish

She knows

It is not safe out there

Too loud

Too confusing

Too dangerous

She is sticking

Close to home

Close to me

Where she feels safe

Take Care of the Earth

earth space universe globe

Let’s take care of the earth

All people

Everywhere

It is our only home.

The stars and the planets

Are too far away.

They were not given to us

To inhabit with these bodies,

but to guide and inspire.

We can be

The gentle

The meek,

The careful

Who inherit the earth.

We can think of our children

And their children

And their children’s children.

We can share her resources

We do not need to hoard them

She has enough for us all.

Enjoy her beauty

She feeds your souls

Be inspired to create

More beauty

More abundance

We can do this together.

Peace Longings

I.

If only we could laugh together

With pure joy

If only we could play together

Running free

If only we could trust

and let go

If only kindness

Was at the top of our list

Instead of the unmentionables

Which I will not mention

Because you know,

They are blasted over us

Over and over until

We are numb

If only we were as

The little child stood in our midst

Clapping his hands

In glee

A smile that is wide and open

As the ocean-free

Forgiveness will bring us back

Home again

Given and received

And wipe away every tear

Root out all the bitterness

So the tender root of joy

Can push up it’s head

II.

Longing for Peace

Reconciliation, forgiveness

Starting fresh again

Prince of Peace – Come

Show us your ways

Teach us your paths

Help us to walk in the way

Of peace

A humble road

Admitting we have

Done wrong

Asking for forgiveness

Giving it

How we bungle these things

With pride, fear

Protecting ourselves

Our interests

Lay down these weapons

Lay them down

III.

How many tears

Can the oceans hold?

When will this violence

Cease?

What will stop the cycle?

More violence is not the answer!

Have we not learned that, yet?

It only prolongs and increases

The destruction and death.

We must wake up!

All must do the work

Of the farmer

Go back to the basics

Sow the seeds of peace

Tears of repentance

And forgiveness

The courageous ones

Will walk towards their enemies

With hands empty

Save for peace

This earth does not belong

To those who devour it

But to the Meek

The gentle of heart

The tide will turn

Wait for it

Remember Me (Communion Song)

Sunset After the Rain

This is my body – broken for you

I gave it freely – for you

Remember Me

This my blood – poured out for you

I gave it freely – for you

Remember Me

As the Father sent me – so send I you

As I laid down my life – lay yours down too

Remember Me

Freely you have received – freely give

I am Emanuel – always with you

On your journey towards Home

Remember Me

In your struggle to make sense – In your struggle to make peace

Remember the poor, the sick, the imprisoned

In all that you do – in the work I have given you

Remember Me

Thoughts on Belonging

Be. Long.

Longing to

Belong.

Yearning

to be

Home.

To love

and be loved.

Accepted.

Welcomed.

Free to be

planted

nourished

and grow

in this

rich soil.

II.

I belong to God.

He belongs to me.

I belong to this earth.

I am made from it.

The earth belongs to me,

not to exploit but to care for and use as needed.

I belong to heaven.

I have the breath God breathed in me.

Heaven belongs to me.

This breath of God is my down deposit.

A Cabin in the Woods

A Cabin In the Woods

Beloved Ones are like

a cabin in the woods

A safe place to stop

along the journey home

Warm fire of family

of being oneself

No need to cloak

my vulnerability

Or hide my face

in a mask

Feast and refresh

take the nourishment

Rest for the next leg of the road

be it stoney or steep

Another cabin will appear

a light in the window

Will beckon me

when needed most

The Space Between

In the space between

My need –

My prayer

And His provision

There is an opportunity

For communion

With the Man of Sorrows

The Son of Man

Who had nowhere to call home

On this earth

I can enter the Sacred Garden

And stay awake for a while

With Him

While He bears my pain

And works unseen

His answer to my need

I will be changed

Deeply marked

With the fellowship of

His suffering

Lost or Found?

I must always

Find myself

Lost

In order

For you

To find me

And bring me

Home

On your shoulders

Rejoicing

In other words

It’s when I think

I’m found

Have all the answers

To everyone’s problems

My trouble begins

I lose my way

I still need you

Every day

To find me

And turn my heart

Towards home
