the seed
dead and buried
slowly
throws off the decay
sprouts new life
to thrust through the soil
for air
for light
for life
becoming what it is
destined to be
flowering in beauty
bearing fruit
to nourish
all living creatures

Something new was birthed in me
or maybe a small flicker of flame
caught the wind
I did not plan it or expect it
it just began to grow
from a seed planted
who knows when or where
It is like that sometimes
I mean to go this way
but end up going that way
or something small
becomes something of great importance
I guess that is what it means
to be lead by the breathe
of a Holy Wind
instead of rigid and set
No room to grow and reshape
if the clay becomes hard and dry
No worries if that happens
God has his ways to
soften us up again.

I didn’t deserve this
I didn’t plant the seed or bulb
I didn’t tend or care for it properly
It was just there when we moved in
Then the blackberry brambles took over
and one day my fearless sons decided
to clear them out
and oh yeah, I forgot there was a camellia under there
and now look what is happening
grace upon grace
undeserved favor
is smiling on me
with every open bloom on this bush
Take a seed, any seed
If you didn’t know what it was
you would write it off as a speck of dust
blowing in the wind.
Yet,
the wind
the rain
the earth and sky
all together working
with the DNA
encased in the hard shell
and the far-reaching possibilities
of that seed are immense
as the stars in sky
and the sand
on the shore.
Each of us
a seed
blowing on the wind
falling then planted
growing.
The potential for good
is great
for making a difference
on the earth
among all people
to be peacemakers
lovers of God and man.
It’s all there from the beginning
locked away and waiting
to be released
in the right time.
Seed of David, Seed of God
Son of Man, Son of God
bringing peace on earth
We hear
heaven is coming
and we will see the King.
Even so
come.
